Orthodontic Braces in Lancaster
When most people consider orthodontics, they only think about how wearing braces will give them a straighter and more attractive smile. But did you know that braces result in better oral health, too? With straight teeth, you can more easily and effectively keep your teeth and gums clean—and that goes a long way toward ensuring a healthy mouth.
At Lancaster Family Smiles, we want to make your orthodontic treatment as convenient and easy as possible. That’s why we have an orthodontist on staff that is an expert in a number of orthodontic treatment systems. No matter which method you and your Lancaster orthodontist choose, you can be certain the results will be dramatic!
Traditional Braces for Lancaster Smiles
Traditional braces with metal brackets and wires have been the gold standard of orthodontic care for many, many years and with good reason—they do an excellent job of providing a straight smile for patients with several smile concerns. Whether you have a crossbite, underbite or overbite, overcrowded teeth or a smile with gaps between teeth and crooked teeth, traditional braces are the solution.
Square metal brackets are adhesively bonded to the facial side of your teeth. Then an archwire is clipped into the brackets and secured in brackets attached to your molars. Along the way, elastic bands keep the wire securely tethered to brackets. With consistent pressure, the wire gradually moves your teeth into proper alignment.
Fastbraces® for a Fast Smile
Fastbraces operate on almost all the same principles as traditional metal braces with one important distinction. The brackets on traditional braces are square shaped, but Fastbraces uses brackets that are triangular in shape. These triangle shaped brackets provide a greater distance between one bracket and the next. This distance gives the archwire more flexibility so it can move the roots of your teeth at the same time as the crowns of your teeth are moved into proper alignment. Traditional braces require two separate phases of treatment, but this is not necessary with Fastbraces.
Invisalign® is the Clear Difference in Braces
Yet another orthodontic treatment option at Lancaster Family Smiles is Invisalign. This system doesn’t use brackets or wires at all to move your teeth. Instead, clear plastic mouth trays that fit snuggly over your teeth move them into alignment. Called aligners, these braces are made of BPA-free plastic that is smooth and comfortable to wear in your mouth. Invisalign clear braces are arranged in an organized series of pairs. Each pair builds on the progress of the previous. All you have to do is wear one pair for two weeks, throw them away and move on to the next.
With all of these orthodontic treatment options available, the orthodontist in Lancaster is able to treat patients of all ages. In addition, we’ll be glad to accept your dental insurance benefits for braces, including Medicaid.
